Autumn is native to Ashe County, NC, where she also currently resides with her husband, Bob,
and five-year-old son. Their family is part of a strong community-based church and enjoys
serving in a variety of capacities. They have been involved with foster care, adoption, and the
Guardian ad Litem program. Autumn is also an active member of a local nonprofit faith-based
Ministry, The NEST Alliance, where she currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the Board
of Directors.
Autumn received her undergraduate degree and graduate degrees from Appalachian State
University. She is a Specialist Level Licensed and Nationally Certified School Psychologist and
has worked in public education for 26 years. In that role, Autumn has served children from preschool through 12th grade and their families, providing psychoeducational evaluations, consultation with teachers and parents, interventions for students with academic and behavior challenges, counseling, social-emotional supports, social skills instruction, and advocacy for students of all learning needs. This includes students who are academically/ intellectually gifted (AIG) to all categories of different learning abilities within special education. She has also served as a leader on teams involving individual student problem-solving, community resource alignment,
and data-based decision-making. Additionally, Autumn has had the privilege of working with
homeschooled families and has learned so much from their journeys.
Autumn believes that we are all created in the image of God who has a purpose and plan for
each of our lives. Just as we are uniquely created, so are the ways and rate at which we learn
and the avenues we demonstrate our knowledge. She sees potential in all students and hopes
to provide helpful insights to families on their home education journey.
