About Mandy
Mandy and her husband Sterling live in Lexington, NC where they are very involved in their community. They have 2 biological children and are a licensed therapeutic Foster home. They enjoy traveling, camping, swimming, boating, and exploring new adventures.
Mandy received her degree from King's College and became employed with Davidson County Schools and then was employed with Davidson Charter Academy. She went on to receive her 4H-NC State University Extension Leadership so she could teach Robotics to students in 3rd - 12th grade. Mandy along with her husband have coached and led numerous Robotic teams over the years, even placing at state finals.
Mandy has a love for children, she loves teaching and working with them. She has worked with kids all of her life. From babysitting, tutoring, teaching robotics, volunteering in children's ministry, fostering, helping with the local children's home, and homeschooling her own children.
Mandy is certified in TIPS-MAPP (Trauma-Informed Parenting for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting). With Mandy, it is about developing a love for learning on each child's level.
Not all children fit into the box of the public school system. Mandy has seen this first hand over the years, this is a huge reason why she knew she wanted to homeschool her own children.
She has worked with children with behavioral and learning disabilities over the years and realizes everyone has their own pace.
Mandy believes that testing of any kind can be stressful and especially on little minds. She wants to take her love for children and be able to help them feel comfortable and confident while testing. "Testing a child in the right way and environment means everything. Children's minds are like sponges, they want to learn and retain information. We just have to find their learning style to help them learn at their fullest potential."

What Families Are Saying
“Mandy is very thorough, patient, and kind with my child. She explains things in a way my child can understand. She is very thorough with the data feedback, both verbally and written. I love the way SMART Testing breaks down everything for my homeschooler and for myself.”— Karri H.
